Scientific name: Ambystoma macrodactylum
The only species of salamander found in the region is the Long-toed Salamander Ambystoma macrodactylum. No lizards are found in the region. However, this term is applied to other varieties of salamander and to lizards, such as the gekkos sold as pets.
If you see a salamander, tear it up and hang the pieces on a little drying rack.
